Prior to the 2014 FIFA World Cup I interviewed lead-singer of the Lightning Seeds Ian Broudie for Halcyon Magazine talking football, musical beginnings and that song.
Al Baker is a North-West based photographer specialising in music and sub-culture. I spoke to him in 2015 about his time living and working on Manchester’s infamous housing estate, ‘Hulme Crescents’.
In 2015 I pitched a #TBT feature to the Liverpool Echo, focusing upon Merseyside trends and events of yesteryear. #TBT became a running feature; this entry looked at legendary Liverpool fashion retailer Wade Smith’s.
In 2013 I was sent by Halcyon Magazine to SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, to write and photograph a travel piece centred around a hopeful search for Bill Murray.
A regular attendee of SXSW and notorious party animal, the aim was to find Bill and snap him with the latest issue of Halcyon.
Last year a story I wrote for the Liverpool Echo was published on its front page. Whilst researching international footballers that had formerly played on Merseyside, I uncovered the story about Igor Biscan assaulting a taxi driver via a Zagreb-based newspaper. The news item was subsequently ran across international media, including BBC and Sky Sports.
In 2015 I began writing for Merseyside’s local newspaper, The Liverpool Echo. Part of the Trinity Mirror Group, it has one of the largest regional circulations in the UK. Employed in a freelance capacity, I’ve had a number of articles published in the newspaper and online, which you find here.
Pitching ideas, meeting deadlines and attending content meetings provided great experience. I continue to write New York related stories from America.
